What are dentures?
Dentures are a set of false teeth that replace missing teeth and help patients regain the ability to speak and chew comfortably. Dentures benefit patients missing all or most of their teeth. Some people choose dentures for aesthetic reasons. Dentures give you a full, customizable, and natural-looking smile which can make you feel great about the way you look. Additionally, you may need dentures if you have trouble chewing or speaking due to your loose, missing, or shifting teeth.
The two main types of dentures are partial dentures and complete (full) dentures. Patients who are missing all of their teeth will benefit the most from full dentures while patients who still have some healthy teeth remaining will be best suited for partial dentures.
What is denture relining?
It is normal for dentures to lose their grip over time. When this happens, our team may recommend denture relining. This simply means that we reshape the underside of the dentures so that they provide a more comfortable and ideal fit. Relining is standard practice and ensures that the dentures rest more comfortably on the bone and gum tissue so they don’t cause irritation. After all, your comfort is our top priority.
How are dentures repaired?
When your dentures break, we know that nothing is more important than having them fixed immediately. We consider any denture repairs to be an urgent matter. We will come to you ready to repair your dentures, if possible, or to start the process of replacing your dentures. We may also provide you with temporary dentures (also known as immediate dentures) so you don’t have to be without teeth while your new set of dentures is being made.
How does this process work?
While traditionally patients have come into a dental office to get dentures, the dental team at Visident Dental Services comes to you! Dr. Frank Andriani, our traveling dentist, will take impressions of your mouth from the comfort of your home. We will then send your impressions to a lab, where they will craft your brand new set of custom teeth. Once these false teeth are complete, we will schedule a follow-up appointment where we personally deliver and fit your dentures.
